Republic of Chile is located in the south of the South American Continent, with a population of 17,067,369, making it the 62nd
largest national population. Its capital and largest city is
Santiago with a total population of 5,428,590. The country
encompasses 756,930 square kilometers making it the 38th largest country in total area. It shares boundaries with Peru,
Bolivia, Argentina and the South Pacific Ocean.

President Dr. Miguel Juan Sebastián Piñera Echenique is recognized as the Chief of State and Head of Government and
achieves that status through popular vote and holds that position for a single four-year term. Its form of government is a
republic and they celebrate the creation of their constitution on 11th of September 1980.

The language commonly or officially spoken is Spanish. It counts among its major religions Roman Catholic, Protestant and
Jewish NEGL. As sources of mass communication it has 181 AM, 64 FM, 17 Short Wave and 63 Television stations.

Major geographical features are Nevado Ojos del Salado, its highest point at 6,880 meters and the Pacific Ocean, its lowest
point at 0 meters. Its principal waterway is the Pacific Ocean, which measures 6,339 kilometers of coastline.

Major industries providing for the bulk of their Gross Domestic Product (GDP) are copper, other minerals, foodstuffs, fish
processing, iron and steel, wood and wood products, transport equipment, cement and textiles. Its official currency is the
Chilean Peso.

Here’s something you may not know about Chile. In 1994 a Red Saving Habenero from GNS Spices in Chile was found to be
an astonishing 577,000 Scovile Units, a unit measure of spiciness, and it was believed to be the hottest pepper ever!
