Principality of Monaco is a city-state located in the west of the European Continent, with a population of 30,510,
making it the 217th largest national population. Its capital and largest city is
Monaco and its largest, most populated
quartier is
Monte-Carlo with a total population of 3,500. The country encompasses 1.95 square kilometers making it
the 231st largest country in total area. It shares boundaries with Mediterranean Sea and France.

Prince Albert II is recognized as the Chief of State and achieves that status through heredity and holds that position
for life or abdication. Princess Caroline, his sister, is the heir presumptive. Minister of State Michel Roger is
recognized as the Head of Government and achieves that status through appointment by the monarch from a list of
three French national candidates presented by the French Government and holds that position for three years. Its form
of government is a constitutional monarchy and they celebrate the creation of their constitution on 17th of September
1962.

The languages commonly or officially spoken are French, English, Italian and Monegasque. It counts among its major
religions Roman Catholic. As sources of mass communication it has 1 AM, 8 Short Wave and 5 Television stations.

Major geographical features are Mont Agel, its highest point at 140 meters and the Mediterranean Sea, its lowest point
at 0 meters. Its principal waterway is Mediterranean Sea, which measures 4.1 kilometers of coastline.

Major industries providing for the bulk of their Gross Domestic Product (GDP) are tourism, construction and small-
scale industrial and consumer products. Its official currency is Euro.

Here’s something you may not know about Monaco. If Monaco’s ruling house of Grimaldi should ever be without an
heir, the country will cease to be a sovereign state.
