

Anguilla is located in the Caribbean of the North American Continent, with a population of 15,423, making it the 223rd
largest national population. Its capital and largest city is The Valley with a total population of 2,035. The country
encompasses 91 square kilometers making it the 227th largest country in total area. It shares boundaries with the
North Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea.
Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom is recognized as the Chief of State and, along with Heir Apparent Prince
Charles, achieves that status through heredity and holds that position for life or abdication. She is represented by
Governor Alistair Harrison. Chief Minister Hubert Hughes is recognized as the Head of Government and achieves that
status following legislative elections, when the leader of the majority party or the leader of the majority coalition is
usually appointed Chief Minister by the governor and holds that position for five years. Its form of government is an
overseas territory of the United Kingdom and they celebrate the creation of their constitution on 1st of April 1982.
The languages commonly or officially spoken are English. It counts among its major religions Anglican, Methodist,
other Protestant, Roman Catholic and other and no faiths. As sources of mass communication it has 2 AM, 7 FM and
1 Television stations.
Major geographical features are Crocus Hill, its highest point at 65 meters and the Caribbean Sea, its lowest point at 0
meters. Its principal waterways are the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, which measures 61 kilometers of
coastline.
Major industries providing for the bulk of their Gross Domestic Product (GDP) are tourism, boat building and
offshore financial services. Its official currency is the East Caribbean Dollar.
